SSC 2026 Notification: Online Form, 1748 Vacancies, Eligibility & Exam Dates

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the  notification for recruitment to various  posts in Government of India organizations. The examination includes Junior Engineer posts in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electrical & Mechanical and Telecom, along with Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The notification mentions 1,748 tentative vacancies.

SSC JE 2026 – Quick Details

The application deadline is 22 September 2026 at 11:00 PM, while online fee payment can be made up to 23 September 2026 at 11:00 PM.

SSC JE Vacancy 2026

The SSC JE 2026 examination has 1,748 tentative vacancies. The final and post-wise/category-wise vacancy details will be made available by the Commission on its website.

The recruitment covers Junior Engineer positions in organizations including:

• Border Roads Organization (BRO)
• Brahmaputra Board
• Central Water Commission
• Central Public Works Department (CPWD)
• Central Water and Power Research Station
• DGQA-NAVAL
• Farakka Barrage Project
• Military Engineer Services (MES)
• National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO)
• Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships
• Department of Telecommunications
• Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying
• India Meteorological Department for Scientific Assistant

The notice specifies different educational requirements depending on the organization and post.

SSC JE 2026 Eligibility

Educational qualification depends on the particular post.

For example, Junior Engineer Civil positions may require a Degree in Civil Engineering or a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering, with experience requirements for certain organizations. Junior Engineer Electrical/Mechanical posts similarly have branch-specific degree/diploma requirements.

For some posts, the maximum age is 30 years, while certain posts have an upper age limit of 32 years. The crucial date for age calculation is 1 August 2026.

SSC JE 2026 Application Fee

The application fee is:

₹100/-

Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempt from payment of the application fee.

SSC JE 2026 Exam Date

According to the notification:

• Paper-I: October/November 2026
• Paper-II: December 2026

These dates are tentative and candidates should check the Commission’s website for any subsequent updates.

Paper-I is qualifying in nature, while candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II based on their performance and qualifying requirements.

There is also negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 1 mark for each wrong answer in Paper-II.

How to Apply for SSC JE 2026

Candidates need to complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website before submitting the application form. The application can be submitted online through the SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.

2. Complete One-Time Registration if you are a new applicant.
3. Log in using your registration details.
4. Select Junior Engineer Examination 2026.
5. Enter the required personal and educational details.
6. Upload the required documents/photograph/signature as applicable.
7. Pay the examination fee, if applicable.
8. Submit the application form.
9. Download and save the submitted application form for future reference.
