The Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), a premier manufacturing unit under the Ministry of Railways, has officially opened applications for its Act Apprentice program for the 2025-26 session. Vacancy Distribution and Trades

RWF is inviting applications for a total of 192 slots across seven specialized technical trades. The distribution is strategically divided to ensure diverse representation:

  • Fitter: 85 slots (The largest category)

  • Machinist: 31 slots

  • Electrician: 18 slots

  • Electronic Mechanic: 22 slots

  • CNC Programming-cum-Operator (COE Group): 23 slots

  • Mechanic (Motor Vehicle): 8 slots

  • Turner: 5 slots

    Eligibility Criteria

To maintain high training standards, RWF has set specific age and educational requirements:

1. Age Limit: As of March 1, 2026, candidates must be between 15 and 24 years old. Upper age relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

2. Educational Background: Applicants must have completed their 10th Standard/Matriculation (or equivalent) with at least 50% aggregate marks. Additionally, a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), is mandatory.

3. Employment Exchange Registration: Except for the wards of serving Railway employees, all candidates must have a current registration with a local Employment Exchange. While candidates from all states can apply, preference is given to those registered within Karnataka.

Training Duration and Stipend

The apprenticeship is designed to provide both financial support and rigorous training. Most trades, including Fitter and Electrician, follow a one-year training period. However, the CNC Programming-cum-Operator (COE Group) has a shorter duration of six months.

During this period, trainees receive a monthly stipend:

  • Standard Trades: Rs. 12,261 per month.

  • CNC Programming-cum-Operator: Rs. 10,899 per month.

    Selection Process

  • Selection is purely merit-based. A merit list is prepared using the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th Standard. In the event of a tie, the older candidate is preferred; if the ages are also the same, the candidate who passed the 10th Standard earlier is selected.

How to Apply

The application process is offline. Candidates must download the application form (Annexure-A) from the Official RWF Website.

  • Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100 via Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft (DD) is required. SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates are exempted from this fee.

  • Submission: Completed applications, along with self-attested documents (10th marks card, NTC certificate, Caste certificate, etc.), should be dropped in the sealed box at the Principal Chief Personnel Officer’s office or sent via Registered Post.
